Shooting in Thorsby
Mounties in Thorsby, along with members of the Edmonton-based RCMP "K" Division, are investigating a homicide near the small town southwest of Edmonton.

Police responded to a 911 call at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, after a house party at a rural property allegedly turned violent.

Sargeant Tim Taniguchi says a man was shot and killed.

"The victim is a 51-year-old male from the Thorsby area," says Taniguchi. "His name is not being released at this time, pending the notification of kin."

A 33-year-old man has been arrested, and charges are pending.

Taniguchi could not say if alcohol or drugs were involved in this homicide. There is also no word on a possible relationship between the victim and the man arrested.
